This item is a rare Avengers #360 comic book with a "Silver" cover. This comic book was purchased the day it was released and found within a stack of the regular released, "Bronze/Copper" cover version, over 28 years ago by the current owner. After years of research, the owner only found about 3 other copies of the "Silver" version of this comic book, but all below this grade. Previously, there was no known record of it in any comic book price guide or any other publication. The owner has been in contact with Heritage, Overstreet, Mile High, Comics Price Guide, and many other long-time industry experts over the years and has been finally getting coverage over the last 10 years. Extensive searches have also been conducted on the internet for a number of years and few copies have been found.
When CGC was contacted to investigate (many years back) if any other "Silver" copies of this comic book existed or had been graded and they had no record of a "Silver" cover version of this book. Overstreet was also contacted, also had no record of this comic book at the time. After ongoing discussions with numerous dealers and other comic book industry experts, many believe a silver cover may have slipped in during the printing process, possibly intended for Avengers #363 since this comic book had a silver cover. Or possibly, the end of a printing cover roll that was not fully tinted bronze. CGC suggested getting it professionally certified to verify its authenticity, so it was graded and given a "Silver Foil Edition" to differentiate its uniqueness to the standard "Bronze/Copper" cover version. This was the very first silver version certified by CGC.
More ongoing discussions with experts theorize that the book seems to be more of a printing error, where the silver coating signified the end of bronze color roll. Only just recently a slightly different copies have turned up with, one with a half-"Silver" and half-"Bronze/Copper" cover. This copy was also found in Michigan, the same state the "Silver" copy version here was purchased, but the comic is not in very good condition. Although there is no guarantee there are more Silver versions out there, the half cover version more than likely proves it was a printing error and there are very few "Silver" cover versions of this book.
The "Bronze/Copper" version is also pictured here, purchased at the same time the "Silver" version was by the same owner. Both were certified together. Note that when you see any Avengers #360 on eBay or anywhere else, many of them look silver, but they are not. It is the way the comic was scanned or picture was taken. Light from the scanner or the flash makes the bronze/copper cover look silver. All you have to do is ask the person who is selling it and they will tell you it is the bronze/copper version. That is why we took these pictures on an angle and with the different covers together so you get the true color of the comic books.
